July 2, 2009 Chama to Silver City New Mexico

So we scoot out of Chama and get into some desert for a while and then up.... up and more up... and the road is .....Ummmmm ... well.... let's just say,we were in 1st gear for 3 hours getting back up into the High Country. Then we began to descend into a town called 'Cuba'. About 25 - 30 miles out we come on to some cars parked on the left side of the road then more and more cars, and people...

Then more people with lots of Tie Die stuff to boot... What's up? There were small cars, big cars, buses, motorhomes, and tons of Hippies smokin' dope on the side of the road.

You thought I was kidding.... Nope.... We had stumbled into the 'Rainbow Gathering'.... Google it! This was an eye opener....

Then on to Grants NM, and some straight .... flat.... dirt roads..... to Pie Town NM.... Check out the road.  We really ripped this section.... Can you say Wahooooooooo? That was fun.

Here's Greggy..... eatin' some Pie Town..... Pie....

Here's Stanley....  (below)
Kathy, the owner of the Pie-O-Neer, insisted on getting us some Pie even though they were closed. The pie was "Apple Crumble" Yummy, and "Apple Ginger" Exquisite.... Amazing, folks.... Greg said as we were leaving, "I aspire to be as content as Kathy!"... Kathy was not complacent but she was Content, we understand that she lived in Chicago, New York, and LA, before she purchased the Pie-O-Neer .

Cafe closed at 4, we showed up at 6 and Kathy made sure we had pie...
We travel through White Horse NM, a small town on the Reservation, the biggest building was the Laundamat.... Scratching head.... why.... Hmmmm... then we realize that many of the houses have no running water and no electricity .... wow.... This is "Simple Abundance".... Cool stuff.
We hurry cuz' there's a storm brewing... It chased us down, and pounded us... for over an hour before we get to Silver City...
Here's my Simple Abundance.... Cel Phone, I-pod, video Camera, GPS, note book computer, helmet cam, This is my simple abundance.... I have lots to learn.
