I decided to go for a motorcycle ride for a few days just to see where the road leads.
Now I know.
Started in Calgary at about 8:00 am, traveld south and west to Fernie BC and then into Montana. Stopped on a bridge for 10 minutes to look around and take pictures. No traffic, just me and the road, along with great scenery. Niicee~
I had been riding for a few hours and saw a really nice looking tourist pull out so being a tourist I pulled in. Put the motorcycle side stand down ( I thought) and began to dismount. Before you could say "Bob's yer Uncle" down we went, me and the motorcycle. A concerned by stander came running up to help. He didn't say a word just helped me pick up the 650 lb monster bike, then got in his mini van and drove away. There was panic in his eyes, I'm still laughing at myself for being a so clumsy.
The bike and I are no worse for wear. I got about 10 -20 miles west of Winthrop Washington at about 10 pm, and decided to sleep. Got up early and continued west. Up and over the North Cascade Pass.
Still a bit of Snow at the top of the pass. I didn't stop at the top cuz' it was butt freezing cold and I wanted to get back down to warmer climes... OK so I was being a fairweather pansy, So What.
Still lots of snow at the summit.
Sometimes all you need to do is get your foot wet!
Continued west on the North Cascade Highway and arrived in Anacortes Washington about 10 am, took some pictures checked ferry schedules to Vancouver Island, turned around and headed back eastward.
I had lunch right next to Interstate #5 at about noon on day 2 (Saturday). I took a deep breath and decided that I would push as far as I could and try to make it back to Calgary without pulling over to sleep.
I couldn't resist a photo opp with a local Bluegrass Band in Colville Washington. They played a toon for me, they are really good! Back on the road again and up to Creston, Cranbrook, Fernie and home at about 1:30 Sunday June 3rd. Day 2 was a BIG mile day... Good thing I pushed through, cuz Sunday turned out to be rainy and pretty darn cold all day long. All in all a solid adventure.
