Unexpected Treasures

Lookin' for Adventure!

The ride starts out with the intent of going to Lethbridge to visit with Mom and Dad, deliver their "new I-pod", and head out to Eurika MT, check out the gravel roads in the high country.

I visited with Mom and Dad until late, and then took off for the "high country"... Lots of animals on the highway so "slow and careful" was the order of the hour.

I pulled into Eurika around 3 am found a great pick-nik table and made myself comfortable.

Met some great folks that were cycling from New York to California, really nice folks.
It apeared that something special was coming together in Eurika, from the time I woke up 6:30 or so the place seemed active and busy. I enquired and found out that it was the Quilt Show. People from around the globe come for the Eurika quilt show.

Like the "HALO"?

Very friendly place, I really liked my short visit to Eurika, I'll be back. I stopped at Grave Creek Cabins, (owned and operated by Todd and Claire Tanner) Todd was away at a family reunion, however it was really nice to visit with Claire.

I got up into the mountains, and came to the conclusion that it would be best to start my adventure with a full tank of fuel.

Wandered to and fro in the high regions. Met some really nice folks "again".

I ended up on some pretty remote roads to no where... took some photos and wiggled around until I found my way around. Once on the right road... it's all GO!

Way out there. This is a dirt road and a very nice lake

This is "Bill" he is the (self professed Huckleberry King) ... Bill says that life with huckleberrys is a good place. I think life with people like Bill is a good place. There appear to be lots of people like Bill all over the high country of Montana.

The road surfaces were great overall, a little marbley in places, a little washboardy in other places, pot holes here and there. Much better than I had envisioned.

This place is wonderful! It's out of the way and you have to be on the lookout to find it, however I think I would travel 100 miles of gravel roads on a motorcycle and sleep on a pick-nik table to have some of their pastery. Hmmmmm, I guess I did.

Here's Todd at the Grave Creek Cabins. "Nice gig Todd".

Mark & Ryan go for a Blast

Ryan and Mark "Ready to Roll"

It was a beauty Saturday afternoon and Ryan & I decided to go out for a quick Motorcycle Blast. We cruised into the mountains around Elbow Falls, and Powder Face trail. We came back to Brag Creek for Ice Cream and a gas stop, then took the back roads to Millerville and some more back roads home... A nice ride, pretty quick. This ride took the Boxer Cup faster than it has gone in the past with me on it. That BMW K 1200S is really, Really powerful. Power to weight is wonderful. Thanks for the opportunity to ride your rocket ship Ryan.
